2024 Conference
Information about the conference.

SACID hosted the 2024 Leading Through Inclusion Conference in Adelaide.
It was held on Thursday 6th and Friday 7th June 2024.
There was an expo each day at lunchtime.
Open 9.30am and close 4pm each day.
It was at the Hilton Hotel, Victoria Square, Adelaide.

We had a Disco Dinner on Thursday 6th June 2024.
There was food, music, and good times!
The Conference gave people with intellectual disability and their families or caregivers the chance to:
- Be seen.
- Be heard.
- Be understood.
Keynote speaker highlights
Video 1: Call to Action.
Everyone who came to the Conference was invited to add a ‘Call to Action‘ to our SACID pinboard.
A Call to Action is something that people want to change.
Felicity Crowther is the Executive Director at SACID.
She shared calls to action from people who came to the Conference.
They covered topics like:
- Healthcare.
- Employment and study.
- Accessible information.
- Funding for disability and advocacy organisations.
Video 2: Gavin and Jim talk about Healthcare.
Gavin Burner is an Inclusion Advisor at SACID and a Member of the NDIA Independent Advisory Council.
Jim Simpson works at the National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health.
They talked about:
- Problems with healthcare for people with intellectual disability.
- Ways to improve health appointments.
- How to make information more accessible and easier to understand.
Video 3: Aerina and Tim talk about online safety.
Aerina Yun is a Project Officer at SACID.
Tim Adam is an Inclusion Advisor at SACID.
Tim and Aerina led the Cyber Wise project at SACID in 2023-2024.
It was funded by the Australian Communication Consumer Action Network (ACCAN).
They talked about:
- The new Cyber Wise training course that SACID created.
- The co-design process for the Cyber Wise project.
- Online safety and why it is important to learn about it.
