Sexuality and Disability intro – Workshop for parents & carers of people with intellectual disability
SEXUALITY AND DISABILITY
Workshop for parents & carers of people with intellectual disability
This workshop explores relationship and sexuality issues and the rights and needs of people with an intellectual disability. It develops awareness of your own attitudes and how these may impact on the learning and development of people with intellectual disability. It discusses the experiences of parents and carers as they navigate how to support someone through these topics and provides foundational learning prior to completing the other 3 workshops in the series. The workshop will touch on sexuality education in school and beyond, introduce you to tips for teaching the person you support and provide resources for further support.
These workshops are brought to you by the South Australian Council on Intellectual Disability (SACID). Under license from Sexuality Education Counselling and Consultancy Agency (SECCA); a sexuality and disability agency based in Perth, who first created the workshops. Funded by the Department of Human Services of the Government of South Australia.
This is workshop 1 of 4 in the Relationship Wise series.
