Pictured above: Richard Bruggeman.

Richard Bruggeman has stepped down from the SACID Board.

Richard has been an integral part of SACID since it started in 2006.

Richard was the convener of the first SACID meeting that brought together the original Chairperson, Dell Stagg, and other key people in the community. They made sure there was a place for families and people with intellectual disability when Intellectual Disability Services Council (IDSC) closed down.

For 19 years Richard has been an avid supporter of SACID and beyond. Even in his retirement he continued to advocate for families and people with intellectual disability, including getting on the radio to raise awareness of the inequalities they face and writing letters to draw attention to the problems in our systems.

During this time Richard was also one of SACID’s biggest advocates. He told so many people about the good work we do and how incredible our Inclusion Advisors are.

Felicity Crowther, Executive Director of SACID, says:

You have been so generous in your support of SACID, and maybe the longest standing Treasurer ever. We want you to know how much we have appreciated your support. I hope to continue to receive emails from you sharing something of interest or to connect us with others doing good work. Please keep in touch!
